My job, first & foremost, is to listen to you & your desires. To create something which makes you feel special & unique. This is an opportunity to express yourself!
THE PROCESS
Some ladies know the sort of headwear they would like, whereas others are looking for inspiration & guidance through the world of millinery. I am more than happy to accommodate requests but will also advise & suggest alternatives, if required.
The design process begins with the choices you have already made ...
From the colours or design on the fabric, to the style of shoes or the beads within your necklace.
The other things to consider are your height (plus heels?), whether you will be wearing glasses & how your hair might be styled on the day?
All these elements can effect the final design, so it is best you have these details finalised & if possible, you bring them (& any off-cuts/scraps of fabric, spare buttons, packets of beads - they can all be incorporated in the design) along to your appointment.
I do have a selection of hats & fascinators available for you to try on, but you are in no-way limited to just what you see!
We can discuss other possible styles, different shapes & all the trimming options available to you.
After our first consultation; once we have narrowed down the materials within the design, you will be provided with a quote, but this is an ESTIMATE. Because until the hat/fascinator is made; the exact time to make your bespoke design or exactly how many feathers (for example) are going to be needed, are still unknown, at this stage.
It’s a good idea to have a notion of how much you are willing to spend; then we can design something accordingly, within your budget.
If this is only £50, that’s not a problem, it will be a basic design with just a little embellishment…
…the other option for this sort of budget, is to source a high-street headpiece or pre-worn hat & have it customized to your requirements. Pop over to my 'RETRIMS' page to see examples.
For a bespoke HATTER headpiece, prices start from around £150.
A four week lead-time is generally required to create a bespoke design, but I will try to accommodate urgent needs where possible.
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required once the design is confirmed, with the remainder paid upon collection.
The best thing to do, is to get in touch. Describe your outfit or send photos & I can offer some guidance on suitable headwear. We can share ideas & I can provide you with a quote.
